Learn Something About Australian Labradoodle Puppies

By Marissa Velazquez

Australian Labradoodle puppies are derived from a crossbreed between either a Labrador and a standard Toy Poodle, or a Labrador and a Miniature. The first puppies of this breed were first bred in Australia by Wally Conron. Conron was a major dog breeder at that time who always wanted to come up with a breed that would be gentle, trainable, and have a low-shedding coat. The breeder wanted these qualities because they would serve people with allergies against dander and fur.

All the qualities he wanted were present in Poodle and Labrador. The Labrador is gentle and highly trainable while the poodle has a low-shedding coat. The first breeding experiment was performed in 1955 and led to the emergence of the name. The name however remained less popular until 1988 when the breed started gaining use as an allergen-free guide pet.

The crossbreeding experiment resulted in a litter of puppies with one called Sultan. Sultan possessed all the qualities Wally was searching for. He was very intelligent with a strong personality that permitted him to serve as an efficient guide dog. Sultan was sent to work as a guide dog in Hawaii and was successful. After such great success, other breeders noticed the advantages of the experiment Wally had performed and they began breeding Labradors and Poodles.

When trained perfectly, Labradoodle puppies have several attractive qualities that let them to be employed on a number of jobs. First, they make great pets for a family. They accept everybody within the family as best allies and are not violent. They are jovial animals and show their joy by jumping and playing around when happy. They show a lot of devotion to family members they live with.

Different puppies in a litter may reveal different qualities. Some may be aggressive and may show this by attacking their siblings while others may prefer seclusion and always hide in the corner. When choosing a puppy, one should avoid the aggressive and the loner types because the character may only intensify as they grow older. The best option to go for is the average puppy that finds fun in socializing with people and its siblings.

An average puppy is always jovial allowing people to hold it. Normally it runs to people and finds it easy to bond with them. The temperaments will however sometimes depend on such factors such as socialization, coaching and training, and heredity. The temperaments of the parents have a great impact on the behavior of the puppies that arise. Sometimes it is a good habit to visit the parents and relatives of the puppy one wants to buy because how they behave may tell something about it.

Medical clearance is also of much importance on any dog. Parents should be checked to make sure that they have all necessary health clearances. Ailments that one should watch out to make sure there is a medical clearance include diabetes mellitus, allergies, epilepsy, elbow dysplasia, eye and ear infections, hip dysplasia, and hypothyroidism.

Australian Labradoodle puppies can be purchased from any breeder. They are easy to train and they do not need a lot of care to survive. It is a good breed to consider as a guide, family, and therapy dog.
