The Basics Of Abstract Watercolor Painting

By Eliza Mendoza

Abstract watercolor painting is whereby abstract art and watercolor are paired. In art, abstraction is usually not designed to represent the external realities of the world but it however strives to create a visual language of its own by using colors, textures, shapes and forms. Generally, it can be described as a form of painting that designs images which are transparent and luminous due to the fact that the pigments used contain very little fillers which obscure their colors.

Artists who perform this task are well known for their non-conformist attitude when it comes to art. They normally challenge this when they let you give form through your own interpretation to figures with no particular form. This artwork in effect will make you think hard about what this whole thing really means for you.

There are several materials required to begin the process and they are indeed readily available at fair prices. These will include a pencil, certain special paints, paintbrushes and papers that can be written on with the paints. If you are to undertake this task, you will also have to allocate a lot of time to it because it requires that you think deeply through the entire process.

The general assumption of such an art is that anything can be accepted. Technically, this is true for any type of art but it is always best that you learn more about the method itself instead of just doing it. Visual elements in this practice will include factors such as color, shape, pattern, texture and the general form. The imagery on the art piece does not reflect reality as it is removed from it. This is what is called abstraction.

This technique is normally viewed as vague and the person viewing the imagery interprets what he sees for himself and chooses what to think about it. This is regarded as fun and it is probably the main reason as to why people who do this love it so much. If you get a sketchbook paper and pencil from any art store, you can also test how deep your creativity could go.

For instance when you draw a forest or a vehicle, they will appear on a mere piece of paper. As the paint lands on the drawing paper, an illusion is created as it goes into the grooves. The main aim of the artist is to make this illusion appear as a three dimensional piece of art.

This effect is what makes the drawing appear real but in order to do this, a lot of practice is required. One could improve their skills by attending classes. These classes will include learning from the internet or physically attending a class to learn one on one. This could be in places such as art stores. Some artists also record their teaching lessons on DVDs and sell them.

Abstract watercolor painting can be used to relieve stress from the mind. Some thought and feelings may pile up in the mind and they could lead to stress especially if they are not let out. An individual can let such feelings out by just drawing what he feels as this will act as a form of letting the feelings out.
